Royal Thai Police Immigration Bureau: AI Verification Module in a Mobile App

For the Royal Thai Police Immigration Bureau, the point of AI was to help check documents and faces, and the point of the app was to put that check in officers' hands. Haliviq developed an AI document and facial verification module, an identity verification system around it and the integration with the traveler database. The work sits between model deployment and systems integration, since a verification result is only useful if it comes quickly, from live data, in an app people trust. This page lists the deliverables, the process and the technology used.

Project Objectives

  • Add AI-based document and facial verification to an operational government workflow.
  • Bring identity verification into the mobile app officers use, rather than a separate tool.
  • Connect to the traveler database so verification works against live agency data.
  • Keep the system reliable enough for daily use by field officers.
  • Handle identity data with care through a secure data-handling design.
  • Build the module so it can be extended or retrained as requirements evolve.

What We Delivered

  • An AI document and facial verification module
  • An identity verification system built around the AI module
  • Mobile app integration connecting verification to officers' workflows
  • Integration with the traveler database and the bureau's existing systems
  • Reliability and accuracy testing against real operational data
  • Secure data handling for identity information
  • Documentation and handover for the bureau's own maintenance

How We Built It

1

Operational and data discovery

We studied how officers verify identity today and what data the module has to reach. This fixed the boundaries of the AI's task before any model work began.

2

AI module development

We built and tuned the AI to verify documents and faces for the specific task required. Its scope was kept narrow so results can be checked and trusted.

3

Mobile integration

We integrated verification into the app officers use daily and connected it to the traveler database. A check starts and finishes inside the app.

4

Validation and handover

We tested against real operational scenarios and handed over documentation. The bureau can maintain, retrain and extend the module on its own.

Results

  • The new app adds AI verification to a system officers use operationally.
  • The AI module is integrated with live agency data rather than tested in isolation.
  • The workflow is built to be reliable enough for daily field use.
  • Verification lives inside the officers' own app rather than a separate tool.
  • The module can be retrained or expanded by the bureau over time.

FAQ

Short answers about this project.

AI-enabled government mobile projects like this typically take two to four months, depending on integration complexity.

A purpose-built AI/ML module for document and facial verification, integrated into a mobile app and connected to the bureau's systems through a secure data-handling architecture.

It supports verification of documents and of faces as part of an identity check. It is built for that defined task rather than as a general-purpose tool.

The module was designed with a secure data-handling architecture, because identity information is sensitive. Access to it follows the bureau's existing data and system controls.

Yes. It was built to be extended or retrained as requirements change, and documentation was handed over so the bureau can maintain it.

Yes. Adding an AI module on top of an existing system suits agencies modernizing in place instead of rebuilding from scratch. Each agency's data and rules shape the scope.
